[ Character's Name ] : Tōdō Naoya
[ Character's Age ] : 16
[ Series ] : Megami Ibunroku Persona (Gameverse)
[ Canon Point ] : Directly post-Pandora.

[ History ] :
Very little is known about Naoya's history. What is known is that he is a 2nd-Year student at St. Hermelin High in the town of Mikage-Cho. He is well-known and seems to be generally liked by his classmates, though he does not appear to be close friends with any of them in particular. His family history is unknown.

He was involved in an incident that occurred after a friend convinced a group of classmates to play a game called "Persona," which involved trying to invoke a spirit. The game worked startlingly well: a young girl in white appeared, crying and asking for help. Bolts of electricity struck the four students, Naoya included, that had not played the Persona game before, and caused them to collapse.

While unconscious, Naoya met a being named Philemon. In response to him correctly identifying himself, Philemon granted him a power called "Persona," and told him that many paths would open before him now. He noted that Naoya should remember that any choice he made after that moment was his, and his alone.

After awaking in the infirmary, Naoya was instructed to get a check-up at the hospital, and also visit a sick classmate named Sonomura Maki. During the visit, the reality all around the town shifted, and demons poured out of nowhere.

Following that, several major events happened.

First was the arrival of the Snow Queen.

After the defeat of the Snow Queen, Naoya and his friends went to investigate the actions of the SEBEC company, who had created the Deva System that was changing reality. In the process, they were pulled into another dimension of their town. They pursued the CEO of SEBEC, Kandori, through the other world and back into their own. After their final face-off with Kandori, they learned the true nature of the alternate dimension.

In order to save their friend, Maki, they reentered the fake Mikage-Cho, and were able to return to the real world after defeating the darkest part of Maki's subconscious.

[ Personality ] :

Naoya
Even Naoya's classmates and teachers seem uncertain what to make of him. It is obvious he is not very close to any of his friends, though he is a constant figure in their lives and known by name by most of the school. Interpretations of him seem to depend on the nature of the person themselves: more bold personalities mention they thought he was a pushover, or scold him for not thinking for himself. Others, however, seem to be certain he is trouble, such as a teacher accusing him of being one to sneak into an unused classroom, and a friend suggesting that he was the one to blow a hole in a brick wall attached to the school.

This is mostly due to the fact that Naoya is very quiet. He does not often speak or offer his opinion, and is normally willing to follow along with others. As long as people are willing to make their own decisions and do not directly ask his opinion, he goes with the flow.

However, it is obvious that he does not lack confidence. In the rapidly changing and frightening situation of the demon attacks, he is the one to stay completely calm. The others adopt him as a leader almost immediately because of it.

His style of leadership is very hands-off. Similarly to his social life, he does not lead from the front. He allows his teammates to all make their own decisions, and if the group decides on a course of action amongst themselves, he does not question it. However, the moment the team disagrees, or must deal with a decision they do not feel comfortable making, they turn to Naoya to ask his opinion.

It is in those moments that Naoya shows himself a leader. He makes decisions quickly and firmly, stepping in as soon as the will of his team fails. He cares for them by supporting them the moment they want him to, and otherwise giving them complete freedom.

When Naoya does interact, either with people or demons, his confidence shows through. He speaks casually, occasionally throwing in a word or two of slang, though he does not curse as some of his teammates do. His tone is almost always calm, whether he is answering a question or telling a demon he will kidnap her. Due to this one of his teammates accuses him of being grim and never smiling, though that is not quite the case; he shows flashes of humor, though it is subtle and often sarcastic.

Despite his casualness and sarcastic sense of humor, he is quite compassionate. When offered choices to let people die, even those who wish to, or when faced with demons that do not wish to fight, he always chooses the option of life. In addition, is skilled at negotiating with his enemies and convincing them to join his side instead of attacking him. He is more than willing to have a demon join him instead of attacking them.

However, when it comes to enemies that wish him or his friends dead, he is relentless. He will not shy away from killing either a human being or a demon if necessary. Due to the Deva System and obtaining a Persona, he was forced into the role of a solider, and when faced with the choice between his own life and that of an aggressive enemy, he will choose his own.

For all his confidence, Naoya does not harbor a particular goal for his life. When asked what his reason for living is, he responds, "To find my reason." It is not something he has found as of yet. He has very few hobbies or passions: it is only singing that he has a great love for. More than a few demons were charmed by his performances for them (though he has been known to scare or upset quite a number more).

The events of his 2nd Year have not completely washed off of him without mark, however. He has dealt with a high amount of stress and has spent several weeks in constant danger, not to mention dealing with supernatural forces, in his own head and out. He may show the signs of PTSD setting in, such as being overly cautious and staying close to a weapon.

Naoya's Shadow
Naoya's Shadow-self is not completely integrated with him, but it is not hostile. While much more abrasive and foul of temper, it respects and seems to have a genuine like for its other self. He approves of Naoya's decisions in the arena of standing up for his friends and saving innocent lives, making it similarly compassionate (if rude).

It is more childish than its other self, as it can be found playing arcade games that Naoya himself has not played in years. Despite that, it has a much deeper knowledge of the power of Personas. While they are separate in the cavern where all human souls are born and return to when they die, it gives Naoya the items he requires to create not only his own ultimate Persona, but those of his teammates and a version of Kandori's Persona, and knows Igor will have the information on how to create them.

In general, Naoya's Shadow does not interfere with Naoya's mind, except in cases when Naoya is in extreme danger and seems unable to think for himself for a short period of time.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :

+ Persuasive
+ Compassionate
+ Confident
+ Persona User
+ Battler

- Introverted
- Unassertive
- Sarcastic
- Likely PTSD

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Personas

Another important thing to note is that his Shadow is a part of him, and has its own form of consciousness. Occasionally when Naoya is severely hurt and stunned, the Shadow will take over and cast a Persona-like spell that causes mass damage against the attackers in defense of their body.

[ Sample ] :
[ It was supposed to be over.

A boy stands in the Plaza, water dripping from his hair, his sleeves, the helmet he had hanging from his fingers. He looks like he came from some strange cross of a motorcycle rally and a school function: he wears a grey uniform, jacket neatly buttoned, but his shoes are more akin to combat boots, and the gloves he is wearing have metal bands attached for protections.

Perhaps more disturbing than his strange sense of fashion is the fact that a sword hangs off of his belt and a strap supporting a machine gun is slung across his chest.

He had expected to be back in the real world. Maki had been happy. She had said she would send them home.

Then again, how many times before had they thought their quest almost done?

There is no sign of his teammates, but he does not allow it to panic him. Where ever he is, he will figure it out soon enough. It is not as if he is ever alone. His head buzzes with activity: Armaiti soothes with her soft voice while Illuyanka hisses paranoid warnings. Only Amon-Ra is quiet, like the boy himself.

Naoya adjusts the machine gun so that it is easy to access in a moment of need and sets off to find out what kind of creature populates this world.
